Version1, an organization known for their participation in the Rocket League scene and for being run by the same group that owns the Call of Duty franchise Minnesota RØKKR, have entered VALORANT by signing the roster NeverDone. The team consists of several ex-Gen.G Esports players as well as some newer crossovers from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to VALORANT.
Version1’s full roster features Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro, Erik “penny” Penny, Keven “PLAYER1” Champagne, Loic “effys” Sauvageau, and Anthony “vanity” Malaspina. While PLAYER1 and effys will be well known as former Gen.G members, the other players have come more recently from CS:GO. Zellsis is best known for his brief time representing Cloud9, while penny played with Triumph this past year and vanity with Chaos EC.
NeverDone have already played several events together, taking a very impressive 1st place finish in the Pittsburgh Knights January Monthly Gauntlet and falling out in the third round of VCT Challengers 1 qualification in a close 2-1 set against FaZe Clan. penny has been a stellar Jett, while Zellsis has played as the other duelist, vanity has taken Omen, PLAYER1 has played sentinels, and effys has run whatever else is needed, typically Sova or Breach.
The team will make their debut under the Version1 banner at the Challengers 2 open qualifier, where they face Onslaught Gaming, likely leading into a series of matches against Time In, Carpe Noctem, and FaZe again respectively, provided all those favourites also win their matches. The event begins on Thursday, February 11th, in just a few days.
